Killer Grannies Trailer Hosted By June Squibb

Grannies may be known for their sweet disposition and wisdom—but sometimes, they can also be killers.

Oxygen’s Killer Grannies, premiering Nov. 9 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, will expose the sinister secrets some grandmothers keep in an all-new series hosted by Hollywood icon and Oscar-nominated actress, June Squibb.

As Squibb remarked in an all-new trailer for the series, “Nobody suspects that their granny has a dark side.”

What is Oxygen’s Killer Grannies About?

The true crime series promises to follow the “most shocking and unpredictable cases” carried out by unsuspecting grandmas across the country, who turn to murder as a means to get what they want.

“In every self-contained episode, a rollercoaster ride of a case unfolds as investigators dig deep and chase every lead until they finally catch their unexpected killer,” reads a longline for the new series. “Through gripping archival footage, selective recreations and cinematic imagery, and in-depth interviews with investigators, prosecutors, friends and family, every episode will peel back the plastic cover on the couch to uncover a world of sinister plots and evil deeds unpacking why and how these maternal matriarchs of the family can turn deadly.

As one source noted in the series’ Oct. 14 sneak peek, grandmas typically aren’t “who fits the mold of a killer,” making their motives and means all the more compelling.

“The granny could have a few skeletons in her closet,” Squibb quipped, before adding, “And granny’s wisdom might just outsmart everybody, including the police.”

The actress cautioned viewers to keep their eye out for “poison biscuits, creepy green cocktails or a loaded Glock in granny’s purse.”

The series, produced by Jarrett Creative, will follow the creative ways grannies turn to kill, including one case that looked “like it’s a professional hit,” while also examining the “ripple effects” the crimes have on their children and grandchildren, according to the preview.

As one woman shared, “It broke my heart that that’s what she did to him.”

And it should come as no surprise that Squibb was the perfect fit as host for the series.

Fans may recognize the 95-year-old from her role as a grandma out for revenge against scam artists in the 2024 film Thelma. She’s also appeared in Nebraska, Hubie Halloween, About Schmidt and Godmothered.

“Everyone expects granny to love,” Squibb said in the trailer of her latest project on Oxygen, “but no one expects granny to kill.”

To learn more about the surprising ways grandmothers have killed, watch Killer Grannies Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Oxygen, beginning Nov. 9.
